Four Sins that Christians Commit in Weddings

Four Sins that Christians Commit in Weddings

1) Caste System

Caste system is very much prevelant in India. For the un-initiated, Caste system is the Indian version of Racism. Caste system is a concept of Hinduism. It is a Hinutva Varnasrama concept in which human beings are segregated as Brahmin, Shathriya, Vaishnavite, Sutra and caste names like Nadar, Vanniyar, Dhevar,Vellalar, Pallar, Parayar. Some of these castes are labelled as High castes and some of the castes come under the category of untouchables. Majority of Christians in India are still bound by the Caste system. 67 % of marriages in India are arranged marriages and most Parents search for a suitable bride for their son from their same caste. A Vellalar would hunt for a vellalar. A Nadar would hunt for a Nadar and so on. Nothing wrong in finding a life partner from the same community. But If your mindset is deeply rooted to the caste system, you need a reality check my dear.

2) Auspicious Days

Many Christians won't get married on saturdays. A wedding on 13th day of the month brings bad luck. These are some of the beliefs of Christians. Some Christians even consult calenders and astrologers to find auspicious days for conducting the wedding. They even quote scripture verses saying that the wisemen followed the star to find Jesus. They also quote scriptures that say that stars were created by God for signs.

Rather than trusting the stars, Have Faith on the One who made the stars.

Deuteronomy 18:10 [There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.]

3) Dowry

Dowry is another practise in which the Bride groom's parents demand Money/ Property/ Movable assets/Immovable assets/ Car from the Bride's family as a pre-requisite for the wedding. This is very much in practise in southern most part of India (Nagercoil - My native place).

I could find only one Name that best suits such a Bride-groom who marries by receiving Dowry and that is  "MALE PROSTITUTE" (Gigolo). Most of my friends and Relatives are MALE PROSTITUTES.


4) Chargesheet against God


A person who arranges a marriage based on caste system, auspicious days and Dowry goes on to commit the 4th and the biggest crime by pulling God into the picture. In most of wedding invitation cards, the following verse can be found

Genesis 24:50 - This thing proceedeth from the Lord.

We do not just commit sins, but also label our sins as a gift that proceedeth from the Lord. Let us remember that our God also has a copy of the invitation card and we are answerable to each and every single line that we print on our wedding cards.
